Company History
Knowing our history will give you an idea of where we came from. What we intend doing in the future is probably more important as this offers peace of mind
The Macdonald Group & the Tuff Floors Story
The Macdonald Group, a family-owned group of Companies, has its roots in the manufacture and printing on metal some 60 years ago. From that base we have grown through the development of specialised manufacturing techniques targeting niche markets.
Consequently, we have enjoyed success in the manufacture and supply of a significant number of industrial products including industrial labeling, appliance trim ware, payphone panels and metal containers.
During the late 1990’s the Macdonald Group acquired an operation recycling flexible PVC materials into raw material which was sold into the shoe Industry. The desire to add value to our product resulted in the purchasing of our first injection moulding machine for the toll manufacturing of traditional PVC tiles.
After visiting a number of international flooring exhibitions, we designed a new product incorporating the liquid resistant seal and a hidden interlock. This invention received international patents which were registered in the USA, UK and South Africa. This product was called TuffSeal™.
Tuff Floors (Africa) was formed and soon developed into a major supplier of industrial flooring in the region.
Continuing in our quest to be the best, we believed that with some adaptations, the DESIGNER Range, incorporating the TuffSeal patent product, would have great potential in commercial and residential applications. After a number or years of research and development, we are now proud to introduce the new TuffSeal™ ranges, incorporating the TuffCote™ PUR surface coating.
